This pump is horrible! I have 2 sons and with my first i used a rented electric pump that hurt so bad i had to stop pumping after 6 weeks.

With my baby now i brestfeed exclusively, but i am pumping to build up a reserve supply for when i have drill weekends with the Army.

I bought this pump right after i had my son and now 2 and a haf months later have given up hope on it. It takes about 30 minutes of assemby because the suction never works so you have to constantly go back through everything and see what is wrong. Mostly every time there’s nothing wrong the suction just is horrible. It takes about 30 minutes to pump 2 ounces. I just went and bought the Lanisoh manual brest pump and in ten minutes had it assembled and pumped my 2 ounces. I would NEVER recommend the First Years Manual pump to any mother!

This pump is awful. I bought it because it was cheap and trust me you get what you pay for. Every time I tried to use this pump it would leak and milk would get into the pump’s mechanism. To make things even worse you can’t even use the collection jars for feeding so you have to transfer the milk. In my opinion, this pump is not worth it and Target should pull it from their shelves.

Despite these other comments … I actually like this little pump. There are no cords or batteries to work around – no motor means it’s very quiet and discreat. Yes the pump can be a little ‘tangly’ to assemble and disassemble, but I’ve rarely had a problem with putting it together (in the couple of times I have had issues, it’s just to take the top off and make sure that the seal is on properly). I don’t like the fact that there is so seal from the holding jar and the pump – if it accidently tips, milk does run back into the pump. Other than that though, for $24 I found it to be a great value. and ps. for those complaining about it not pumping enough milk – more likely a problem with your supply (or frustrations with the pump). find suction to be fine and can pump milk no problem.

I bought this pump on vacation because I accidentally left my good electric pump (Ameda) at home. I was terribly disapointed with this pump from the first moment I took it out of the bag. The directions were unclear on how to use it…and the top popped off while I was attaching it to the catching cup. After this, the pump wouldn’t suck properly. I finally threw it in the trash because it just never worked right. Save your money or invest it in a pump that works. I highly recommend Ameda.

This pump is not recommended at all. I purchased the First Years pump because I have several other First Years products already and thought it was a good brand name. I was proven wrong. After using the pump once the whole handle fell apart in my hand. Then it became a useless piece of junk. I called the “1-800″ number, they said they would not take it back so I can get my money back they would only send me another handle. Still didn’t work there was no suction at all with this model.
