I just reciently bought the Medela PIS advanced. I am loving this pump. I am a full time working mommy and I was given a platex comfort select from a friend. This pump was LOUD! It sounded like deep sea diving equipment. What was worse was that I was pumping like 45 min at a time and only getting 1 oz. I went out and bought the PIS and it is much quieter and way more efficient. I am now pumping 3oz in 15min of pumping time. There is a button to stop the let down cycle. I use the let down cycle until my milk lets down and then change the setting. I recomend this pump! I sort of wished I would have bought the freestyle but only for the hands free feature.

I do not own this pump myself, but my sister-in-law has it and she is not satisfied with the 2-phase let-down system. It pumps really fast for like 2 minutes and then slower for the rest of the pumping. You cannot change the settings, so you just have to let it work that way, which doesn’t really work for my sister-in-law. The lactation consultant that she is seeing does care for this pump either (because of the 2-phase setting). She said that she cannot justify recommending this pump to new moms because it does not offer the same flexibility that the original version does and it comes with a larger price tag. This pump is designed as a one size fits all and it does not work for a lot of women.

I love this pump so far. I tried to be practical when purchasing baby gear and bought a Lansioh pump. The pump was supposed to pump both sides and did not work for that purpose so I only pumped one side at a time. at first it was okay, however, i am a stay at home mom and want to transition to breastmilk from bottles at three months so I needed to get my supply up. When starting to breastfeed I had a hard time with nipple soreness because my son was a small baby and couldn't latch correctly so i had to rest from breast feeding and pump only. Once I started this, the pump went out after two weeks of using it. I pumped for 45 mins and got one ounce total, whereas I got three before. I went and bought the Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump w/ Backpack and instantly I started to pump two ounces again! It is gentle on my nipples, TRUST ME i HAD RAW CRACKED NIPPLES along with a rare case of MASTITIS! And it alleviated the anxiety of failing at breastfeeding....for the second time! I love the two speeds, it really helped me stimulate the milk again. I just got the pump but am so glad I spent the money on it!! it's a must buy for moms wo plan to breast feed for a period of longevity and frequency!

I bought this pump because as a mom and a full-time college student I have a very busy schedule. I have to say that I am disappointed with my pump choice. It makes a lot of noise! The let down reflex doesn't work me. I like to be in control of the amount of suction and speed.

My baby is able to get milk out a lot faster than I am able to with this pump. I wish that I could try another pump, but a student’s budget isn’t really cut out to purchase one $300 pump let alone a second one.

It worked well for me. But, it was a little big for travel and a little loud.
